Some things just never change—but a few do! Take, for example, one of the Palm Springs Valley’s favorite furniture stores on Dinah Shore Drive in Rancho Mirage. Known since it opened in 2009 as Plummer’s, its parent company has merged its brands, giving this store a new name: Scandinavian Design. Thankfully for shoppers looking for quality furniture, home furnishings, art, and décor—as well as impeccable service—the new moniker merely helps identify the retailer as an establishment selling beautiful products with a Scandinavian flair. Scandinavian Design still offers one of the widest selections of living room, dining room, bedroom, office, and outdoor furniture in the desert, and its 22 stores in three states are backed by a 50+ year stellar reputation.

Jasen Theisen—with his decades of experience in the retail furniture business—is still the general manager overseeing a team of talented in-house designers and sales staff.   The store looks better than ever, and I never hesitate to bring my design clients who are looking for items to complement their existing décor, or to start from scratch for a whole new look. I’ve always loved the clean lines of Scandinavian design, which pairs beautifully with the midcentury modern look that is so prevalent here in the Greater Palm Springs area. But trust me when I tell you, there are items here for just about every homeowner’s style. And Scandinavian Designs is known for its upholstered furniture from names such as McCreary Modern, Lazar, Schillig, and Ekornes, and offers literally hundreds and hundreds of fabric choices—enough to make even the most decisive buyer’s head dizzy!

Stop by and see Jasen and his team in their beautiful solar-powered showroom (how cool is that?). And be sure to tell him Potter sent you!
