If you’re at all like me, you know the feeling of being without a dinner partner but wanting to eat out anyway. When that’s the case, I head for my favorite restaurant’s bar rather than to its dining room and a table for one. I mean, just because I’m solo doesn’t mean I don’t want to chat or be adjacent to a lively vibe. Bartenders are expertly trained to take great care of single dinners, and bar bites are often smaller than usual appetizers and entrees—so you can eat less … or sample more. Plus, who knows? There’s always the chance some interesting chap or gal will belly up beside me.
Rancho Mirage has a plethora of great restaurant bars at which to pull out a bar stool. Just a few that come to mind include bb’s at The River, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Lord Fletcher’s, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, Roy’s Hawaiian, Wally’s Desert Turtle, Las Casuelas Nuevas, Shame on the Moon, Si Bon Belgian Bistro, The Old Spaghetti Factory, or any of the signature eateries of our four deluxe resorts: Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa’s The Steakhouse, bluEmber at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, State Fare Bar + Kitchen at The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage, or Pinzimini at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa.
Just a few nights ago, I ambled in to Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine on Highway 111 to have a chat with bar manager Cory Como. When I got peckish, I had my pick of bar bites from the broad tapas menu (20% off from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.) … or Chef Drew’s awesome burger … or the two-course prix fixe menu served all evening in the bar. Oh, and I was delighted to discover that Happy Hour lasts all night at Catalan’s bar as well! As you can imagine, it ended up being the perfect night. Maybe I’ll just go bar-hopping for the rest of this month! Wanna join me?
