First, the Palm Springs International Film Festival announced that Casey Affleck (“Manchester By the Sea”), Ruth Negga (“Loving”), and Tom Hanks (“Scully”) are the first three of a dozen or more movie stars to be fêted at its annual Awards Gala on January 2, 2017.

Then event promoter Goldenvoice declared that the headliners for Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival would include Dierks Bentley, Shania Twain, and Kenny Chesney (performing alongside more than 60 other satellite acts such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Willie Nelson, and Cyndi Lauper) when the event comes to Indio’s Empire Polo Club April 28-30, 2017.

Rancho Mirage’s Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa just revealed that for one night only—February 12, 2017—none other than illustrious film legend Sophia Loren will appear live on stage at Agua’s acclaimed performance venue The Show (her only Coachella Valley appearance) to present her nationally touring “An Unforgettable Evening with Sophia Loren.” During the event, the 82-year-old and still breathtakingly beautiful screen siren (accompanied by interviewer Bill Harris) will share stories of her childhood in war-torn Italy, her family life as the wife of film producer Carlo Ponti and the mother of two grown sons, and her prolific career—which spans not only 94 credits over more than 65 years but boasts a pair of Oscars, a Grammy, five Golden Globes, a BAFTA, and more!
