Those of us who live in the Palm Springs Valley, or who are lucky enough to visit this beautiful desert oasis, are fortunate to have an institution that offers a wide variety of cultural treats, all under one umbrella: The Palm Springs Art Museum. With three different campuses at their disposal—two in Palm Springs, one in Palm Desert—Rancho Mirage residents and resort guests are never more than a few minutes’ drive from some of the best art and entertainment in the desert.
One of the things that excites me most about the 2015 – 2016 season is an exhibit at the main museum called “Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe.” Opening September 5 and closing December 13, the show shows the world some of the sartorial sacrifices women—and men!—must make to finish off a fabulous ensemble and looking divine from head to toe. Some of these shoes are just off-the-charts fantastic (and serious artwork), and after getting a sneak peek, I can guarantee you will walk away thanking your tootsies that you’re wearing sneakers!
Check out the museum’s website for all the great events this fall and winter at the main campus, the Architeture and Design Center, and the Palm Desert campus. You’ll find everything from art, music, and theater, yoga and dance, children’s programs, and plenty of parties!
