One of the things I look forward to most as summer approaches in the Palm Springs Valley is the fact that most of my favorite Rancho Mirage restaurants offer great specials to make sure a steady flow of customers continues in the triple-digit heat.
One of the first ones to cross my desk—and to whet my appetite—comes from Sabatino’s Ristorante Italiano on Bob Hope Drive. Seeing as its new Pasta Bar has been such a stunning success, the deal will continue through August. But rather than costing $21.99, now it’s available for just $18!
Here’s how it works: You choose the fixings, and Chef Marc Cummings will prepare your pasta to order. It’s all you can eat, including salad and garlic bread. Open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5:00 p.m., Sabatino’s is the place to get not only penne, rigatoni, spaghetti, and fusilli but other warm-weather specials like linguini & clams ($20), tilapia (Livornese or Rosalina style, $18), pasta carbonara (prepared tableside, $19), lasagna ($15), spaghetti with marinara sauce ($14), and—on Wednesday nights only—house-made lollipop baby back ribs served with mashed potatoes or polenta fries ($18). Not to mention all the other appetizing veal, chicken, and great house-made Italian entrees on the menu.
I need to train my taste buds for the Mediterranean cruise I’m taking in late August, and so you’ll find me at Sabatino’s at least once a week in May, June, July, and early August. And remember: Diners can enjoy the relative cool evenings on the patio, where dogs are always welcome!
