Summer Golfing Is Totally Cool

I’m not one of those guys who takes off when the going get’s hot.  Summer in the desert is my kind of place.  (They don’t call it the “Greater Palm Springs Oasis” for nothing!)  Whether it’s hanging out in the pool for hours on end, making my way over to one of the misted patios at The River at Rancho Mirage for a refreshing cocktail, or indulging in one of my newfound passions—golf!—I’m right there enjoying every digit on the thermometer.

Strangely, after not playing golf for my entire life, it’s been my new “go-to” activity for getting some fresh air, a little exercise, and meeting a new circle of friends ever since I took my first lesson less than six months ago.  Living in Rancho Mirage I have no shortage of courses to choose from, but having learned how to play at The Westin Mission Hills, I’ve been pretty particular about putting and chipping there.  I was chatting with Westin Mission Hills Head Golf Pro Jeff Beier the other day and he gave me a quick rundown of all the great summer clinics and promotions they are offering.  Now I’m psyched about all the opportunities to learn more about the game.

As a chronic shopper, I was excited about the “Oakley Promotion” that includes a hot pair of shades in addition to teeing off for 36 holes and use of a cart and the driving range, all for either $89 or $119, depending on the sunglasses you choose.  They’ve also got all kinds of great clinics, including those for Young Linkers (5-17 year olds), beginners, couples, fitness buffs, and even one for women that offers a four-hole game paired with wine tasting!  In addition, all links fees are reduced for the summer.  I mean, who doesn’t love a bargain?

First tee is 6:30 a.m.  What a beautiful way to start the day.  See you there, my dear readers.   www.playmissionhills.comSummer Golfing Is Totally Cool
