Palm Springs Resort Cities Restaurant Week may have just passed, but I was excited to hear while dining at Rancho Mirage’s Catalan Mediterranean Restaurant that this fab establishment will continue its highly popular three-course dinner specials throughout June and July.
Dinner with friends last week was pretty much a fairy tale come true. The busy restaurant was served well by Chef Drew Davis and his lovely wife, Cynthia’s crack team in the dining room—and before that in the comfortable bar. Kiersten took great care to explain the restaurant’s Western Mediterranean Spanish and Italian menu items that we weren’t that familiar with, and helped us choose just the right pairings of cocktails and wines to go with our nibbles, first, and main courses. Suffice it to say that everything was so delicious—including Manila clams in the most awesome broth imaginable, super-juicy lamb chops, and moist and perfectly cooked swordfish—that Instagram pics of our meals made the internet rounds, convincing four friends to make reservations for the next night! Seriously folks, it’s that good!
The Catalan team will be taking a well-deserved break in late summer, closing the first week of August and reopening the first week in September. But in June and July, you’ll have plenty of time to drop by Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Along with the usual menu (which, of course, includes Catalan’s signature paella) sensational three-course dinner options will be available for $19.95 all night on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, Happy Hour drinks and tapas are available all night, every night in the bar!
