I must admit that I’m one of the most efficient people I know. Part of this is due to the fact that I have more than a small case of (healthy) obsessive-compulsive disorder. But much of it is also owed to the fact that I not only love to multi-task but that I also take very good care of myself, making sure that I completely de-stress at least once every 24 hours so that I can attack each new day at the peak of my powers.
Multi-tasking is something that the owners of Desert European Motors on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage do expertly. It’s therefore no surprise that they decided to donate their beautiful, new, modernistic “walls-of-glass” Audi showroom to complimentary Sunday morning Vinyasa yoga (which links movement to breath) between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. And it’s a double no-brainer that I was there to partake of yogi Bronwyn Ison’s inaugural class on February 16.
As the sunlight spilled in, exactly 16 of us bid “Good morning” to Ison and to one another as we spread out our mats throughout the spectacular space. (For the record, classes can accommodate up to 40 participants.) The celebrated instructor, who co-owns Evolve Yoga in La Quinta, gently put us through our paces, making sure that all of us were challenged yet comfortable no matter what our yoga skill level. It truly was the perfect place and practice to start a most serene Sunday. Thanks again to the good folks at Desert European—and to Ison herself—for having the wherewithal to make it all happen.
“Yoga seemed like a perfect fit for this spectacular architecture, with its gleaming early morning sunshine,” says Desert European’s marketer par excellence (and personal pal) Diana Marlo. “The Audi brand, much like Yoga, is engaging, can be challenged and focuses on precise alignment, pushing performance to the limits, and it’s FUN!”
No worries if you missed this first outing. Follow-up classes will be held on March 9 and 23, and on April 13 and 27. During the summer, plans are for the event to happen once a month. Call 760-773-5000 to reserve your spot. And see you there! I’ll be the one doing Downward Dog in the diagonally striped patterned purple tights. Perfectly pressed, of course. Obsessive-compulsive behavior dies hard!
