The Rancho Mirage Library’s Swell Summer Programs

Even though I don’t have any friends coming to visit with their wee ones in the next few weeks, I feel compelled to write a few words about all the amazing programs available this summer at my favorite repository of reading in the whole world—of course I’m referring to the Rancho Mirage Public Library!

There are even more activities at the library for kids of all ages (but especially the 2-to-12 set) in July than there are the rest of the year, with weekly Kids Book Discussions, “Crafts in the Afternoon,” pre-school stories, afternoon “Game Days,” and “Book Babies Storytime.”   But one of the most popular attractions is the Friday afternoon movies, with popular titles like “Happy Feet 2,” “Hugo,” and “The Adventures of Tintin” shown in the Community Room—with free freshly made popcorn!  (I may just have to sneak in and see a few of these myself.)

Summer is a great time to laze in the cool and quiet library, with or with out the little ones.  But it’s also a wonderful opportunity to turn a tyke onto reading during their downtime from school.  Take advantage of it!
