RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Sept. 14, 2016– The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month in October in a variety of ways while supporting Desert Cancer Foundation. From the Jazz in Pink concert to other exclusive specials at the spa and throughout the resort, money will be raised to combat cancer. In addition, resort employees are actively participating to raise awareness by participating Desert Cancer Foundation’s 10th Annual Paint El Paseo Pink Walk.

The specials available during the entire month of October, created specifically to support Desert Cancer Foundation with proceeds, include Pamper Yourself Pink spa treatments; Pink Drinks purchased at the restaurant, lounge and pool; and “create your own tie dye T-shirt for a cause,” which include The Westin logo. The Pink Drinks include Pink Cosmopolitans, Pink Champagne, Pink Paradise – a tasty pineapple infused vodka with amaretto, pineapple, and cranberry juice. The Pamper Yourself Pink Spa Specials provide 10 percent of the treatment cost to Desert Cancer Foundation, and are:

*   Pinking of You Massage, $150 – 50 min
*   “I Think in Pink” Oxygen Facial, $165 – 50 min
*   Purifying Pink Grapefruit & Honey Body Scrub, $100 – 25 min
*   75-Minute Mani-Pedi for the Cure, $120 – 75 min

A highlight of the month-long celebration is the “Grooves at The Westin” concert on Friday, Oct. 29, featuring the band Jazz in Pink, an all-female world-class jazz super-group. A portion of the ticket proceeds from this show will be provided to Desert Cancer Foundation. As a Halloween weekend performance, guests are invited to attend in costume. The concert takes place in the outdoor Masters Plaza, weather permitting, at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $40 to $85. The $85 tickets include a VIP Reception to meet the artists and enjoy gourmet appetizers, wine and other beverages. Throughout the resort there will be a plethora of pink décor including pool floats, flags on the golf course, tennis balls and overgrips, lobby floral arrangements, giant pink ribbons, as well as pink ribbons and bracelets for those donating to Desert Cancer Foundation in one of the several donation boxes around the resort. In addition, guests wearing pink while visiting the tennis shop receive a 25 percent discount on all tennis apparel, racquets, and ball machine rentals.

The Westin pool staff will wear pink tie dye shirt as part as their uniform for the month of October, along with pink sunglasses provided by Desert Cancer Foundation, while staff from various departments of the resort are walking in teams for the 10th Annual Paint El Paseo Pink 2-mile walk on Oct. 8 at 9:30 a.m., that begins at The Gardens and progresses along El Paseo. The $25 registration fee per person goes to Desert Cancer Foundation to help Coachella Valley residents who are uninsured or underinsured to obtain screenings, diagnosis and treatment for cancer as well as allied diseases.
