Sample Global Bites Right Here in Rancho Mirage

You don’t need a passport to sample the flavors of the world this summer. Do some globe-trotting during the 4th Annual Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage. It only takes the purchase of a $10 wristband to get your taste buds traveling. And with these great $4 food and drink deals, it’s much easier on your money belt than a trip abroad.

South of the Border

Start out with a trip to Mexico.  Maracas Cantina offers up elote, Mexican street corn roasted on an open grill. Looking for something sweet? Las Casuelas Nuevas tempts diners with their creamy and caramel-y flan.

Then head down to Peru via Maria Jose Peruvian Gourmet. Enjoy a ceviche menu selection appetizer.

Across the ‘Pond’

Let your tongue fly across the Atlantic to Spain. Catalan serves up a special tapas menu. Select from cold or warm dishes. (At just $4 each, why not order up several plates?) Thirsty? Dringk Eatery + Bar has Spanish favorites, red citrus or white peach sangria.

Make a stop at O’Caines Irish Pub for the atmosphere and music of Ireland. Order up a full meal of 6-ounce fish and chips, Guinness draft and sticky toffee pudding that will only cost you a total of $12. Or enjoy an English favorite, $4 strawberry shortcake, at bluEmber at Omni Rancho Las Palmas. Toffee, another English treat, is award-winningly done at Brandini Toffee. This summer, they serve up $4 toffee ice cream bars.

Then head over to Italy. Norma’s Italian Kitchen serves up small antipasta appetizers and $4 personal pizzas.  Sample bruschetta at The Slice, and delicious olive tapenade and Sicilian garlic bread at The Old Spaghetti Factory

Asia

While its name may very well be all-American, Apong’s Philly Steak features Thai tea and Filipino egg rolls during Taste of Summer. Waters Café at Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa has a Japanese favorite, edamame, as a $4 appetizer.

U. S. of A

As you make your way ‘round the world, say “aloha” at Roy’s to get a taste of the islands. Enjoy the $4 appetizer of two pieces of Kalua pork sliders. Then grab poké nachos and Spam Musubi at Haus of Poké.  Or beat the desert heat with a Hawaiian favorite, a small Hielo Sno Shaved Ice.

If you taste buds are seeking out “home,” come back to the great 48 for tastes like Texas BBQ pulled pork sandwiches from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit or an American ooey-gooey cheesy bread at Pieology. Quench your thirst with domestic beers at 360 Sports at Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa or select craft beers brewed right here in Coachella Valley at Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse.

For dessert, dig into a classic slice of chocolate cake at Burgers & Beer or enjoy a regular cup or cone of your favorite ice cream from Vermont’s original Ben & Jerry’s. Want to do it big? Four little dollars gets you a whole pound of cookies at SoCal favorite Pastry Swan Bakery & Dessert and take 25 percent off your entire order at Krispy Kreme, a donut shop that got its start in North Carolina.
