For years now, local monthly glossy Palm Springs Life magazine has published the results of the desert’s “Best of the Best” online contest in its August issue. With more than 35 categories to choose from, there are options galore. Participants are eligible to vote one time in any or all of the categories—by city.

Polling began on January 1 and runs through February 28. Per the publication’s website, “Winners are chosen by popular vote and will be announced starting in March online at and in April in The Guide. The annual recap of all of the 2017 Best of the Best City by City winners will be published in the August 2017 issue of Palm Springs Life.

I think you can see where I’m going, right? If you’re like me, you want Rancho Mirage to score as the winner in as many categories as possible! And since there’s so much going on in our fair city, you can vote for your favorite in almost every category. These include Attraction, Casino, Coffeehouse, Consignment Store, Craft Cocktail, Festival, Florist, Gym/Health Club, Hair Salon, Hiking Trail, Hotel/Resort, Live Theater, Museum, Restaurant (with sub-categories not only by cuisine but by alfresco dining, barbeque, breakfast, burger, caterer, romance, seafood, steakhouse, sushi, and veggie/vegan), Spa, Sports Bar, Vacation Rentals, Vintage Clothing, and Vintage Furniture.

Considering the admirable breadth of this list, I’m happily reminded how many worthy establishments we have within our borders. And no, I can’t suggest nominees—that would be unfair because I could never list all of them. So take a trip down memory lane and think back to the best experiences you’ve had in Rancho Mirage, whether it be having fun, dining, drinking, shopping, or any other activity reflected in the voting classes. Then go to and cast your ballots!

As always, may be best of the best win!
