I don’t know about you, but there is nothing I like more than combining passions. In this case, food and fashion. On Friday, May 9—yes, just in time for Mother’s Day—famed Wally’s Desert Turtle on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage will host a fashion luncheon and private shopping event with Grayse (pronounced “grace”), the label launched last year by Marie and Kelly Gray, the mother-daughter team responsible for the creation of St. John’s Knits.
Grayse, which is currently sold at Bloomingdales, Neiman-Marcus, and select Saks Fifth Avenue stores–or online at www.mkgrayse.com–is seeking to create a renewed presence in the desert due to its more-than-loyal fan base throughout the Palm Springs Valley. So, what better deliciously stylish idea than to partner with Wally’s owners Michael and Nicole Botello—alongside executive chef Richard Pelz—to mix a pop-up trunk show with a fabulous fashion luncheon.
While ladies (and their interested gentlemen friends) are feasting on Pelz’ great lunch menu—a full range of appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts will be on offer in the restaurant from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—they’ll be treated to informal modeling of the Grayse collection. Meanwhile, the pop-up trunk show will be happening in the Mirage Room from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On display—and for sale—will be a multitude of new items, one-offs, custom-made articles, discounted and close-out pieces, etc. Of course, would-be shoppers will be able to browse, try on, and even talk to Marie and Kelly, who will naturally be in attendance.
The 250-people-capacity event is expected to sell out, so reservations are a must. For more information, please visit www.wallysdesertturtle.com/grayse or call 760-568-9321. See you there! I’ll be the one trying on fabu outfits between bites of Macadamia Nut Bread Pudding!
