I’m often asked how I keep my social calendar in order with all the hundreds of parties, events, openings, and benefits that are available throughout the “high season” in the Palm Springs Valley. My stock answer? “Very carefully.” I could be busy just about every evening in my own hometown of Rancho Mirage, but with all the awesome opportunities to experience all the wonders of our big beautiful desert oasis, I don’t want to miss a single thing, so I check everything out.
There are organizations and charities galore that I just adore. Some I’m able to support financially either with monetary donations or by attending their events. But over the years I’ve found that by donating my time, expertise, and experience I can make a contribution that goes far beyond money, one that gives me a wonderful sense of fulfillment as well as a chance to make the most amazing friends!
So as the season heats up, consider all the ways you can give back to our beautiful desert paradise—whether you’re a local, a seasonal snowbird, or just here for a week or two—and have an awesome time while you do it. Since there are hundreds of groups and organizations, I can’t possibly list them all, but suffice it to say here are a few of my favorites (in no particular order) to whet your philanthropic appetite. And with a minimum of online searching, you’re sure to connect with many others.
