On the gorgeous last weekend of April, Palm Springs was temporarily turned into the City of Brotherly Love when 30,000 men from quite literally all around the world descended upon the Palm Springs Valley—many of them choosing to stay in rental homes and resorts in Rancho Mirage—to attend the annual festivities known as Jeffrey Sanker’s White Party.
Over three glorious days, daytime pool parties gave way to evening dance parties and after-parties where beautiful (and oft shirtless) men of all types and ages bopped the night away.
The main event, as always, was the Saturday night mega dance held at the palm Springs Convention Center. For this, the 25th anniversary of White Party, Sanker enlisted none other than 2013
American Music Award “Best New Artist” winner Ariana Grande to headline for the thousands of guys who attended, almost all of whom were dressed in white. Many wore simple shorts and tops, but some went all out with extravagant costumes. And others yet chose nothing but briefs as the attire du soir.
For many a reveler, Sunday afternoon’s Icon T-Dance at the makeshift White Party Park across the street from the convention center is the crowning glory of any White Party weekend. This one didn’t disappoint, with consecutive sets by ultra hot DJs Grind, Wayne Gibbons, and Ralphi Rosario followed by girl group G.R.L. and a surprise appearance by Grammy nominee Deborah Cox, who was a crowd pleaser with her massive hits “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” and “Absolutely Not.” The whole shebang came to a close with a fantastic fireworks display the likes of which this valley has never seen.
It’s always a tad sad to see all the boys go back to the lands whence they came. But at least we know that in 12 short months they’ll all be back for WP26 in April 2015.
