Let’s face it: Most ladies and quite a few gentlemen in Rancho Mirage—and I’m talking both residents and visitors—are of the well-heeled, well-dressed variety. That’s why so many of us look so forward to the largest fashion show on the West Coast, AKA The El Paseo Jewelers Fashion Week El Paseo presented by Franklin Loan Center.
This year, the 12th annual sartorial extravaganza will be held March 18-25 in the Harsch Investment Properties Tent at The Gardens on El Paseo in Palm Desert. Just some of the highlight happenings include the Le Chien Masquerade Party featuring canine couture by Orostani and benefitting the Humane Society of the Desert, a Meet & Greet with award-winning designer Michael Costello and the stars of “Project Runway,” and a trunk show with designer Rosetta Getty. Check out www.fashionweekelpaseo.com for all the latest news and schedules, and to buy tickets.
Just some of the other designers represented this year include Christopher Bates, Mikael D, Jesus and Antonio Estrada, Char Glover, CD Greene, Adam Lippes, Chris March, Christopher Palu, and Olga Yuditsky.
The stats from last year alone are enough to make any clotheshorse gallop toward the proceedings. In 2016, 11,000 attendees participated (more than 1,400 per day), with an almost even split among locals and out-of-towners. With more than 50 in-store events—not to mention the meals out and nights in our resorts and hotels—the economic impact on the Palm Springs Valley reached almost three million dollars.
Not only are The Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary and IndiGO Autogroup two of the affair’s Rancho Mirage-based sponsors, our very own deluxe resort Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa (www.rancholaspalmas.com) is an official hotel of the event. Staying with us while “seeing and being seen” during Fashion Week El Paseo is a great way to sleep more than well at night…and to have instant access to all the shopping, dining, and touristic options at your disposal within the walls of our great city.
I, for one, can’t wait to see whom you’ll be wearing…
